RAPAPORT... Arctic Canadian Diamond Company has unearthed a 71.26-carat rough, which it claims is the largest fancy-vivid-yellow diamond ever found in Canada. The company recovered the stone from the Misery Pipe at its Ekati mine in Canada's Northwest Territories on August 25, it said last week. That portion of the deposit is known for producing high-quality yellow diamonds, Arctic Canadian noted. Recently, the miner sold a parcel of fancy-yellow diamonds from Ekati weighing up to 17.8 carats to Australia's Burgundy Diamond Mines. "This historic fancy-vivid-yellow gemstone continues to showcase Canada as a major player on the world stage for diamond mining," said Arctic Canadian CEO Rory Moore. "Canadian diamonds are some of the most sought after globally because of responsible mining practices and environmental stewardship. This stone is a testament to Ekati's ability to deliver value now and into the future."Arctic Canadian bought Ekati in 2021 from Dominion Diamond Mines, after Dominion's insolvency forced it to sell its assets to its debt holders.Image: The 17.26-carat yellow diamond.
