EU CARMAKER CLOSURES 27/04: Restarts at Jaguar-Land Rover, FCA-PSA joint venture

British carmaker Jaguar-Land Rover will gradually resume production at several production sites in the UK and Europe from May 18, the company announced late last week.

The partial resumption of operations will begin with plants at Solihull in the UK, Nitra in Slovakia, and in Austria.
Operations have been suspended across Europe since March 20 amid growing pressure to try to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the company has now reported a recovery in vehicle sales in China. In mid-February, it reopened all production phases at its joint-venture Chery Jaguar-Land Rover plant in Changshu, which has capacity for 200,000 vehicles per year.

JLR confirmed that it will monitor the relaxation of social distancing guidelines in all regions where it produces cars, and said that further restarts will be announced...
