EU GREEN STEELMAKING: ArcelorMittal launches reduced-carbon long steel products for building sector

ArcelorMittal Europe has launched new long steel products under its XCarb brand which are claimed to offer a reduced carbon footprint, with the intention of supporting the construction industry's efforts to meet environmental protection goals, the company announced on Friday July 30.

ArcelorMittal Europe's Long Product division said that environmental production declarations (EPDs) were now available for some low-carbon products.
The EPDs provide a life-cycle assessment, detailing the complete environmental footprint of the steel sections, merchant bars and sheet piles in ArcelorMittal's recently launched XCarb range, which uses recycled raw materials and power from renewable sources.
