EUROPE ALLOY STEEL SCRAP: Austenitic prices increase on higher nickel costs

The price of austenitic alloy steel scrap in the UK and Europe increased significantly this week because of higher nickel costs, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday December 11.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for stainless steel scrap 18/8 solids, domestic, delivered merchants UK rose to ?980-1,040 ($1,305-1,385) per tonne on Friday, up by ?30-60 per tonne week on week from ?950-980 per tonne previously.

The three-month nickel contract on the London Metal Exchange recorded an official price of $16,891 per tonne on Thursday, up $895 week on week from $15,996...
