EUROPE BEAMS: Prices down as summer slowdown approaches

Steel H-beam prices in Northern and Southern Europe moved down this week following fluctuations in feedstock supply and uncertain market conditions ahead of the seasonal summer slowdown, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday July 10.

Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel beams, domestic, delivered Northern Europe, was ?,?570-600 ($639-672) per tonne on July 10, down from ?,?570-605 per tonne one week earlier.Many mill operations across Europe were expected to slow down next week before closing completely over the summer.While one trader reported an increase in rolling and delivery times to as much as six weeks, others reported a more modest 2-4 weeks for new orders."We are not selling any more or any fewer beams than in the...
