EUROPE BEAMS: Prices unchanged on sluggish stockholder buying

Prices for steel beams made and delivered in Europe remained stable this week with limited buying from stockholders, market participants told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday February 21.

Stockholders are grappling with both high stocks and unsatisfactory selling prices to end-users, according to trading sources in the market."In the Benelux region, on the sales side to end-users, we have very low prices so there is no room to move our [buying] prices upward," one Northern European distributor said.Stockholders have been pricing competitively to end-users, he said, in an apparent attempt to win orders and market share."Demand is quite good, but...
