EUROPE CRC: Buyers ready to accept higher prices with supply still tight

Sentiment in the European cold-rolled coil market has remained bullish due to material shortages at domestic mills and limited oversea alternatives, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday April 21.

As a result of the tight supply, buyers have been ready to accept higher prices for CRC materials, but the number of deals has been nominal because mills were either holding back from offering in the spot market, to avoid becoming overbooked, or could offer only fourth-quarter-rolling material.
"Downstream coil products are a disaster - it is impossible to buy them from European mills," a German source said. "Delivery is long and, due to the limited number of sources and volumes, buyers are ready to pay almost any price, if they really need the material."
