EUROPE HDG: Domestic prices up as demand exceeds supply

Domestic European prices for hot-dipped galvanized coil increased over the week to Wednesday December 2, due to a combination of low availability, good demand and higher feedstock prices, sources told Fastmarkets during the week.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel HDG, domestic, exw Northern Europe, was ?,?680-700 ($816-840) per tonne ex-works on December 2, up by ?,?20 per tonne from ?,?660-680 per tonne ex-works a week earlier.
The assessment reflected achievable prices and deals heard in the market, while official offers have been reported as high as ?,?730-750 per tonne ex-works.
The region's steelmakers have been offering April-May shipment material, creating shortages for earlier delivery, according to market sources.
