EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices inch down as buyers hold back from making new deals

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil in Northern Europe moved down day on day on Friday October 9 amid slow trading activity, sources told Fastmarkets.

Buyers have been largely holding back from making new deals until a further price trend becomes clear. Domestic HRC prices, however, are unlikely to move down substantially, market sources said.
Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel HRC index, domestic, exw Northern Europe at ?,?493.50 ($580.36) per tonne on Friday, down by ?,?2.85 per tonne from ?,?496.35 per tonne on October 8.
The index was, however, up by ?,?2.47 per tonne week on week and by ?,?17.25 per tonne month on month.
