EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices rise further, supply still tight

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil (HRC) in Northern Europe increased further day on day on Tuesday March 9, supported by reduced availability, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, at ?,?756.25 ($898.28) per tonne on Tuesday, up by ?,?2.50 per tonne from ?,?753.75 per tonne on March 8.
The index was also up by ?,?16.25 per tonne week on week and by ?,?46.25 per tonne month on month.
The calculation of Tuesday's index was based on achievable prices heard at ?,?740-760 per tonne ex-works and deals heard at ?,?760-770 per tonne ex-works.

Some buyers believed that they would still be able to get regular volumes from third-quarter production at prices about ?,?750 per tonne ex-works, with deals at higher prices for extra volumes or special...
