EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices stable as buyers step away from trading

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil in Europe were fairly stable day on day on Thursday October 1, with buyers holding back from making new deals until the market trend became clear, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, at ?,?490.77 ($575.37) per tonne on Thursday, down by just ?,?0.14 per tonne from ?,?490.91 per tonne on September 30.
The index was, however, up by ?,?2.96 per tonne week on week and by ?,?37.29 per tonne month on month.
Thursday's index was based on deals, achievable prices and offers heard at ?,?490-500 per tonne ex-works.

Although some of the region's steelmakers have been offering HRC at prices as high as ?,?520-530 per tonne, these offers were not included in...
