EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices stable but mills still seeking rises

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil in Northern Europe were fairly stable day on day on Tuesday October 13 because buyers were staying in "wait-and-see" mode until the price trend became clear, sources have told Fastmarkets.

The mills, however, continued to push for higher prices because they had good order books. The majority of Northern European steelmakers claimed to be sold out for December rolling, and there was strong demand from the automotive sector.
Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, at ?,?493.75 ($583.15) per tonne on Tuesday, up by just ?,?0.42 per tonne from ?,?493.33 per tonne on October 12.
