EUROPE HRC: Domestic prices steady on good order books, solid demand

Domestic prices for steel hot-rolled coil across Europe were fairly stable over the week to Wednesday February 10, supported by good order books among EU steelmakers and good demand, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, at ?,?708.33 ($856.64) per tonne on Wednesday, down by ?,?1.67 per tonne from ?,?710.00 per tonne on February 9.
The index was also down by ?,?1.67 per tonne week on week, but it was up by ?,?40.83 per tonne month on month.
The calculation of Wednesday's index was based on achievable prices heard at ?,?690-720 per tonne ex-works.
Official offers, in the meantime, were reported at ?,?730-750 per tonne ex-works in Northern Europe.
Fastmarkets' corresponding price assessment for steel HRC, domestic, exw Southern Europe, was ?,?700-710 per tonne ex-works on February 10, unchanged week on week.
This assessment was based on achievable prices and the lower end of offers heard at ?,?700-730 per tonne ex-works.
