EUROPE HRC: Mood remains bullish on material shortage

Market sentiment in the European hot-rolled coil segment has remained bullish so far this week, with buyers struggling to secure volumes from both domestic and overseas suppliers, sources told Fastmarkets in Wednesday April 21.

Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe at ?,?956.25 ($1,151.90) per tonne on Wednesday, up by ?,?2.50 per tonne from ?,?953.75 per tonne on April 20.
The index was also up by ?,?46.25 per tonne week on week and by ?,?158.25 per tonne month on month.
Wednesday's index was based on market participants' approximate prices of ?,?950-980 per tonne ex-works.
Fastmarkets calculated its corresponding daily steel hot-rolled coil index domestic, exw Italy at ?,?943.33 per tonne on April 21, unchanged day on day. The index was, however, up by ?,?43.33 per tonne week on week and by ?,?145.83 per tonne month on month.
The calculation was based on achievable prices heard from market sources at ?,?940-950 per tonne ex-works.
