EUROPE HRC: Prices up further on strong demand, reduced availability

Europe's domestic hot-rolled coil prices continued to rise on Wednesday April 7 due to buyers' growing need to restock and limited sources of material, sources told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets calculated its daily steel hot-rolled coil index domestic, exw Northern Europe at ?,?894 ($1,057.80) per tonne on April 7, up by ?,?9 per tonne from ?,?885 per tonne on April 6.
The index was up by ?,?58 per tonne week on week and by ?,?144 per tonne month on month.
The calculation of Wednesday's index was based on achievable prices estimated by market sources at ?,?880-900 per tonne ex-works.
The majority of the region's steelmakers were said to be holding back from making offers and trading coil this week.
