EUROPE HRC: Rises in demand, costs push prices up across Europe

Domestic prices for hot-rolled coil moved up across the EU over the week to Wednesday August 26 supported by some improvement in demand, a lack of competitive imports, reduced output and high raw materials costs, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets' daily steel hot-rolled coil index, domestic, exw Northern Europe, was calculated at ?,?447.87 ($529.34) per tonne on Wednesday, up by ?,?5.04 per tonne day on day from ?,?442.83 per tonne on Tuesday.
The index was also up by ?,?20.37 per tonne week on week and up by ?,?38.21 per tonne month on month.

Wednesday's index was based on deals heard at ?,?435-460 per tonne ex-works as well as "workable" prices...
