EUROPE PLATE: Domestic prices rise further as supply gets tight

Domestic prices for European heavy steel plate increased further in the week to Wednesday May 12, supported by good demand and material availability becoming limited, sources have told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets' price assessment for steel domestic plate, 8-40mm, exw Northern Europe, was ?,?980-1,020 ($1,191-1,239) per tonne on May 12, up by ?,?30-40 per tonne week on week from ?,?950-980 per tonne.
The assessment was based on transactions and offers heard in the market.
The corresponding weekly price assessment for steel domestic plate, 8-40mm, exw Southern Europe, was ?,?950-980 per tonne on Wednesday, compared with ?,?940-980 per tonne a week earlier.
