EUROPE REBAR: Slow demand, weak scrap push prices down

Steel rebar prices in Europe declined over the week on slow buying and lower scrap costs in some regions, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday, April 22.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, delivered Southern Europe, was ?,?440-470 ($475-508) per tonne on April 22, down from ?,?450-470 week on week.
The assessment includes deals and offers heard in the market this week.
Italy
Long steel producers in Italy are gradually restarting production, but most mills are running at reduced rates because the key end-user construction sector remains largely idled.
