EUROPE SECTIONS: Low demand, high stocks keep prices flat

Prices for domestic hollow steel sections in Europe remained unchanged this week, with unexpectedly low levels of demand resulting in large volumes of stock being available, market sources told Metal Bulletin on Wednesday September 19.

Metal Bulletin's domestic price assessment for commodity-size, grade-S235 square hollow sections made in Northern Europe remained at ?,?650-670 ($759-783) per tonne delivered on September 19, unchanged week on week.Market participants said that the expected increase in demand after the summer holidays had not yet happened, and had led to increases in unsold stocks."The market feels a bit dull and sources have said the same to me," a distributor said."There is nothing much happening, and I would have expected it to pick up after summer.
