EUROPE STAINLESS STEEL: Prices under pressure from lower surcharges, weak demand

Stainless steel prices in Europe were under pressure this week from lower June alloy surcharges and weak demand, sources told Fastmarkets on Friday June 7.

Prices decreased only modestly this week, however, and mills were determined to resist the pressure and prevent any further price reductions, according to distributors.Fastmarkets assessment for grade-304 stainless steel cold-rolled (CR) sheet transaction prices in Northern Europe was ?,?2,200-2,250 ($2,476-2,532) per tonne delivered on Friday, narrowing downward by just ?,?10 per tonne from the week before.By comparison, the June surcharge for grade-304 CR sheets decreased to ?,?1,339-1,380 per tonne,...
