EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices rise in south, stabilize in north but producers remain bullish

Producers of steel mesh quality wire rod in the south of Europe push for higher prices on increased feedstock costs and a demand recovery, while in the north prices were flat after an increase last week, source told Fastmarkets on Wednesday September 2.

Southern Europe
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Southern Europe increased to ?,?450-460 ($535-547) per tonne on September 2 from ?,?440-450 per tonne the week before.
Italian producers increased their offers by around ?,?10 per tonne this week, sources said. Mesh-quality wire rod in Italy traded at ?,?450-460 per tonne delivered, up from ?,?440-445 per tonne last week.
