EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices steady despite slower market

Domestic prices for steel mesh-quality wire rod in Europe were steady in the week to July 15, with buying activity starting to slow down due to the traditional summer slowdown, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday.

Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Southern Europe, was ?,?425-440 ($485-4502) per tonne on July 15, stable week on week.
The assessment was based on deals and offers heard in the market.
Italy

Despite some producers targeting higher levels of around ?,?450 per tonne delivered in Italy, buyers said the "workable"  level for mesh-quality wire rod ?,?435-440 per tonne by buyers, unchanged from their price indication last week.
