EUROPE WIRE ROD: Prices up on tight supply, scrap

Domestic steel mesh-quality wire rod producers in Europe managed to achieve new price gains over the past week due to limited supply and increased scrap costs, sources told Fastmarkets on Wednesday September 23.

Northern Europe
Fastmarkets' weekly price assessment for steel wire rod (mesh-quality), domestic, delivered Northern Europe was ?,?460-480 ($545-568) per tonne on Wednesday, widening upward from ?,?460-470 per tonne delivered last week.
Producers managed to achieve the price of ?,?480 per tonne delivered in deals this week, however, most transactions were still done in the range of ?,?460-470per tonne, sources said.

The new target level for mills is ?,?490 per tonne...
