Aurania Resources reported that it has commenced scout drilling at the Tsenken N1 target at its Lost Cities-Cutucu Project in southeastern Ecuador.
Aurania Resources Ltd. (ARU:TSX.V; AUIAF:OTCQB)reported in a news release that it has begun scout drilling work at the Tsenken N1 target at its Lost Cities-Cutucu Project in Ecuador.
The company indicated that the Tsenken N1 target is a surface exposed copper-silver mineralized zone and that prior surface samples taken at the site returned values of up to 7.1% copper and 55 g/t silver. The firm noted that based upon the results obtained from MobileMT data, it believes that it will intersect the mineralized zone starting at a depth of between 75 and 100 meters from surface, though the MobileMT target is located at a greater depth of around 700 meters.
The company's Chairman and CEO Dr. Keith Barron remarked, "Tsenken N1 is an area where there are a number of small, mineralized breccia bodies with limited exposure on surface in some stream beds...Breccia conduits or "breccia pipes" commonly will coalesce at depth into a larger breccia body or into the upper levels of a porphyry."
Dr. Barron continued, "Several years ago, I examined a group of meter-scale copper breccia pipes underground and on surface at Tres Chorreras in Azuay Province in Ecuador, and these ultimately merged downward into a copper porphyry that was intersected in drilling. I am hopeful that we have a similar geological scenario here."
The company pointed out that a heliborne MobileMT geophysical survey is currently being performed to target a cluster of porphyries in the Awacha area. Aurania advised that the survey work is being completed jointly by two Toronto firms, MPX Geophysics Ltd. and Expert Geophysics Ltd.
