Explorer Starts Drilling Another Prospective Area at Nevada Property

Historical surface rock chip samples show the presence of gold mineralization in the Gold Box Canyon area of Newrange Gold's Pamlico project.

Newrange Gold Corp. (NRG:TSX.V; NRGOF:OTC) began drilling in the Gold Box Canyon area of its flagship Pamlico project in Nevada's Walker Lane Trend, it announced in a news release.

The Vancouver-based explorer plans to drill seven holes to test potential structures in the bottom of the canyon and further holes to test mineralization under the rhyolite-latite contact zone.

"Management is of the opinion that Gold Box Canyon represents significant upside to the exploration potential at Pamlico," the release noted.

Recent results support that hypothesis. For one, hole P20-65, which Newrange drilled earlier this year, confirmed that gold mineralization is present in Gold Box Canyon, through returned assays including 0.535 grams gold per ton gold (0.535 g/t Au) over 4.6 meters (4.6m) and 0.113 g/t Au over 22.9m.

In addition, 61 of 85 historical surface rock chip samples taken from the Gold Box Canyon area contained more than 0.1 g/t Au, with overall results ranging from 0.1-16+ g/t Au. Analyses of these samples revealed that a highly anomalous, 190m wide by 480m long zone is present that "corresponds with the outcrop pattern of the favored host horizon in Gold Box Canyon," the release noted.

Sixty-seven chip samples that Newrange collected contained highly anomalous gold that ranged from 0.048 to 16.9 g/t Au and averaged 2.464 g/t Au.
