Export offers for Chinese rebar, wire rod hit $1,000 per tonne

Export offers for Chinese rebar and wire rod increased sharply over the past week amid domestic gains in China, though no buyers took them up.

Fastmarkets' steel reinforcing bar (rebar) index export, fob China main port was at $1,020 per tonne on Tuesday May 11, up by $192.50 per tonne from $827.50 per tonne on April 27.
This is the highest that export prices for Chinese rebar have been since August 2008. Fastmarkets started tracking this price in July 2007.
