Fall of ground kills employee at Kamoa-Kakula complex

"The fatal accident occurred at the underground Kansoko Mine in a development area when a fall of ground struck a Komoa Copper employee," Ivanhoe said.

"Kamoa Copper is undertaking a comprehensive internal investigation into the accident and is working with the DRC authorities to facilitate their investigation of the accident," the company added.

Kamoa Copper is the operator of the complex. It is a joint venture between Ivanhoe (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%), and the DRC government (20%).

Ivanhoe's share price was C$9.13 ($7.01) on 11 September, while the company had a market capitalisation of C$11.07 billion.
