Fed Minutes, Retail Earnings On Tap

Traders-on-Wall-StSeveral Fed members will speak throughout the week

Next week will feature the latest Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting minutes, as well as several Fed speakers, including Fed Vice Chairman Richard Clarida. A few more earnings reports will roll out, with a focus on retail stocks, including reports from Home Depot (HD), Target (TGT), and Best Buy (BBY). Elsewhere, Wall Street will digest data on the housing market and durable goods orders.

Below is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Several Fed leaders will speak on Monday, May 20, including Philadelphia Fed President Patrick Harker, New York Fed President John Williams, and Clarida. Cracker Barrel (CBRL), International Game Technology (IGT), and Red Robin Gourmet (RRGB) will post earnings.

Clarida will speak again on Tuesday, May 21, as will Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren. Data on existing home sales is also slated for release. Home Depot (HD), Autozone (AZO), J.C. Penney (JCP), Kohl's (KSS), Nordstrom (JWN), TJX Companies (TJX), Toll Brothers (TOL), and Urban Outfitters (URBN) will all step into the earnings confessional.

On Wednesday, May 22, St. Louis Fed President James Bullard and Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic will both step up to the proverbial podium. Weekly crude inventories will be released, but the 2 p.m. ET release of the Fed meeting minutes will be the day's big feature. Earnings reports from Advance Auto Parts (AAP), L Brands (LB), Lowe's (LOW), Target (TGT), VF Corp (VFC), and Williams-Sonoma (WSM) are all set for release.

Weekly jobless claims, data on new home sales, crude inventories, and the Fed balance sheet will all be out on Thursday, May 23. Raphael Bostic will speak again, joined by Dallas Fed President Robert Kaplan, Richmond Fed President Tom Barkin, and San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly. Autodesk (ADSK), Best Buy (BBY), Deckers Outdoor (DECK), HP Inc (HPQ), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Hormel Foods (HRL), Ross Stores (ROST), SINA (SINA), and Weibo (WB).

The week will end quietly on Friday, May 24, with durable goods orders data on tap. Buckle (BKE), Foot Locker (FL), and Hibbett Sports (HIBB) will throw their hats into the earnings ring.
