Firestone Diamonds recovered a 72-carat yellow, makeable diamond from its Liqhobong Mine in Lesotho, earlier this month. The stone was recovered together with a 22-carat makeable colorless stone, and a 11-carat fancy light-pink stone. These diamonds will go on sale at Firestone's next tender in May 2019.
This is the second 70+ carat stone recovered from the operation during his calendar year. In March, Firestone sold a 70-carat colorless makeable for arecord overall price for a diamond mined at the Liqhobong mine. Further details of the sale will be included in the Q4 production update.
Paul Bosma, Chief Executive Officer, commented: "It was a good weekend for us, recovering the 72-carat diamond as well as the two smaller, high quality stones from within the northern, lower grade part of the pit. These recoveries will certainly assist in supporting the average value of the next sale in May."
Recently, Bosma has been stating the case of the junior diamond miners by sounding the alarm bell regarding the low prices realized in the diamond market for small, quality rough.
