Freeport beats revised Q2 copper sales forecast by 8%

Freeport-McMoRan has beaten its revised copper sales target for the second quarter of this year by 8%, although its Cerro Verde and El Abra operations continue to operate in line with forecasts modified in April due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In April, the company amended its second-quarter copper sales forecast to 690 million lb or 313,000 tonnes.
Before the pandemic, the company had forecast total sales of 3.5 billion lb, or 1.5 million tonnes, of copper this year, but revised this to 3.1 billion lb, or 1.4 million tonnes.
