Further aluminium production cuts in China's Inner Mongolia send prices higher

China's aluminium market was buoyant on Monday March 15 amid positive sentiment generated by the latest production cuts ordered by local authorities in Baotou city, the capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

The city's Development and Reform Commission last Friday issued an additional notice on measures to control energy consumption in the first quarter.
The commission required Xinhengfeng Energy Co - an aluminium processor funded by the East Hope Group - to cut the production of processed aluminium to the equivalent of 590,000 tonnes per year.
