Gerdau opens graphene division to supply VAP to Americas

Brazil-headquartered steelmaker Gerdau has launched a new subsidiary to supply ready-for-use, value-added graphene products and to develop new markets for the carbon allotrope in the Americas region, the company told Fastmarkets on Thursday April 15.

Gerdau Graphene, as the new company is called, aims to be a service center of sorts for graphene products in the region. It will source the solvent-dispersed raw material overseas and then prepare an additive or masterbatch to be sold alongside its services to customers - via offices in Brazil and the United States.
"We have identified one of the reasons graphene usage has not grown is due to each client having to invest in research and development," the subsidiary's general director, Alexandre Corr??a, said. "We will research and sell the product and our know-how."
