Gerdau to restart steel billet unit in southern Brazil after 6.5 years

Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau will restart operations at its Arauc??ria unit, in the country's southern Paran?? state, after 6.5 years of downtime, the company said on Thursday April 22.

Production will resume at a gradual pace, depending on domestic market developments, Gerdau said. Total crude steel capacity at the site is 420,000 tonnes per year, it added in a filing to Brazil's securities and exchange commission, CVM.
