RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has appointedShahdeh Ammadi director of institute relations, a newly created position. In her role, Ammadi will oversee the institute's globalalumni and GemKids programs, as well as its guest services. She was previouslythe director of alumni relations and annual giving at the Columbia UniversityGraduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. "The more than 130,000 active GIA alumni in 65 chaptersaround the world are important ambassadors for our institute and help tofulfill our mission to ensure the public trust in gems and jewelry," said GIA presidentand CEO Susan Jacques. "Shahdeh brings unique experience and expertise thatwill help us enhance, reenvision and implement programs, resources andinfrastructure to support lifelong learning and success for our wonderful anddedicated GIA graduates."
