GLOBAL ALUMINIUM WRAP: Rotterdam duty-paid premium rises; flat elsewhere

Premiums for duty-paid aluminium in Rotterdam rose on Tuesday November 17, with a wider contango on the London Metal Exchange and improved demand supporting the increase. Premiums were flat elsewhere in the world.

The Rotterdam duty-paid premium rose on Tuesday, supported by a relatively steady contango on the LME and demand for metal returning to the market.
Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium P1020A premium, in-whs dp Rotterdam at $130-135 per tonne on Tuesday, up by $5 on the low end from $125-130 per tonne a week earlier. The premium is now at levels last seen on October 27.

Market participants said the return of a steadier contango and more demand for duty-paid compared with duty-unpaid material has helped push premiums slightly higher. Deals have been mostly reported above the $130-per-tonne level in the past two...
