GLOBAL ALUMINIUM WRAP: Shanghai premiums rise on open arb; US Midwest holds at all-time high

Aluminium premiums remained high across the globe in the week ended Tuesday May 25 due to tight supply and high logistics costs.

Aluminium premiums in Europe remained well supported this week with offer levels continuing to rise.
Fastmarkets assessed the aluminium P1020A premium, in-whs dp Rotterdam, at $230-240 per tonne on Tuesday, up from $225-240 per tonne a week earlier.
"Consumer demand is strong and we are getting a lot of inquiries. Offers are rising and premiums are looking strong," a trader said.
The majority of deals reported to Fastmarkets over the past week were in the range of $230-240 per tonne, with limited small tonnages at $245 per tonne. Multiple tenders were out this week while consumers sought to secure tonnages for the second half of the year.
