GLOBAL ANTIMONY WRAP: Chinese, European prices find support from production stoppages

The price of antimony in China ticked upward in the latest assessment on Wednesday April 10, after the country's producers raised their offer prices in response to production stoppages in Lengshuijiang.

The city, in China's central province of Hunan, is a major hub for antimony production.Fastmarkets' price assessment for MMTA standard-grade II antimony, delivered duty-paid in China, was 44,000-45,000 yuan ($6,557-6,706) per tonne on Wednesday, up by 0.6% week on week from 43,500-45,000 yuan per tonne.Despite a rise of 0.6% over the preceding week, the price has still fallen by 3.8% month on month and by 9.6% from early this year, according to Fastmarkets' price archives.On April 3, before a national public holiday on April 5, authorities in Lengshuijiang ordered all the private producers of antimony ingot to suspend their operations.
