Metal Bulletin's charge chrome index, cif Shanghai surged 4.5% or 4 cents per lb to 93 cents per lb on June 8. "There has been more movement this week, it has been a much improved market and liquidity should continue to increase," a producer source told Metal Bulletin. Chinese ferro-chrome smelters have been cutting production in response to government-imposed environmental regulations. A number of fresh cuts were made last week in China's major production hub Inner Mongolia, after an environmental inspection team arrived.
