GLOBAL LITHIUM WRAP: Chinese lithium carbonate prices post strongest weekly gains of all time

Technical-grade and battery-grade lithium carbonate prices in China recorded their strongest weekly gains of all time on Thursday September 2, according to Fastmarkets' assessments, with the two now trading at parity against a backdrop of strong demand from the lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) sector.

Strong demand from the LFP battery sector and gains in the lithium futures market have propelled lithium carbonate prices in China's domestic market higher over the past week.
Fastmarkets' assessment of the lithium carbonate 99.5% Li2CO3 min, battery grade, spot price range, ex-works domestic China was 120,000-130,000 yuan ($18,575-20,123) per tonne on Thursday, up by 12,500-17,500 yuan per tonne (13.6%) from 107,500-112,500 yuan per tonne a week earlier.
This marks the strongest week-on-week gain since Fastmarkets launched the price assessment in October 2017.
