Lithium prices in Asia were broadly firm in the week ended Thursday July 15, with technical-grade lithium carbonate outperforming other grades amid good restocking appetite among traders.
Lithium prices in the domestic Chinese market were broadly steady, with technical-grade lithium carbonate prices continuing to rise.Battery-grade lithium prices in the seaborne Asian market were also stable amid tight availability.
The price for technical-grade lithium carbonate in China continued to edge higher over the week, with traders actively restocking in expectation of stronger prices in the second half of this year.
Fastmarkets' price assessment for
lithium carbonate 99% Li2CO3 min, technical and industrial grade, spot price range, exw domestic China, rose to 82,000-83,000 yuan ($12,687-12,842) per tonne on July 15, up by 1.85% from 80,000-82,000 yuan per tonne one week earlier.
The technical-grade material price has been on an upward trend for three pricing sessions in a row since the start of July. Before that, the price was 77,000-80,000 yuan per tonne on June 24.
