Nickel premiums in the United States rose, with the premium for nickel briquette up by 9% over the week to Tuesday June 1and consolidating recent gains, while the premium for nickel cut cathodes was up by 1 cent per lb on the high end now that the aerospace sector has come back to life after being near dormant during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
Fastmarkets assessed the
nickel briquette premium, delivered Midwest US at 16-20 cents per lb on June 1, up from 15-18 cents per lb on May 25.
Some spot business was done higher for several weeks - mostly at or above 18 cents per lb - but offers at 16 cents per lb were also missed...
