Gold rises, American Eagle lands

Meanwhile Orefinders Resources' spin-out American Eagle Gold (TSXV: AE) started trading yesterday, having raised C$3.6 million at 20c per share.

Part of the Ore Group, insiders and management own 44% of the company, which is focused on its flagship Golden Trend asset in Nevada adjacent to Barrick Gold and Newmont's Goldrush joint venture.

It said its VP exploration Mark Bradley was Barrick's Cortez project team leader during Barrick's discovery of Goldrush, for which Bradley was co-recipient of the prestigious Thayer Lindsley Award for international mineral discovery from the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada in 2014.

Shares in the junior closed down 10% to 18c.

Elsewhere, Newmont rose 3.3% in New York as it celebrates 100 years and Barrick gained 4.24% in Toronto.

London and Japan had holidays yesterday and China's break extends until Thursday.
