The Metals:

Gold saw slight gains in Asia and chopped near unchanged in London before it dropped down to $1197.00 in early afternoon New York trade and then bounced back higher into the close, but it still ended with a loss of 0.39%. Silver slipped to as low as $14.622 and ended with a loss of 0.14%.

Euro gold remained at about EUR1041, platinum lost $2 to $827, and copper climbed 2 cents to about $2.82.

Gold and silver equities fell roughly 1% in the first 30 minutes of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

The Economy:

The Markets:

Oil rose nearly 2% despite a rise in inventories as concerns about Iran escalated after "U.S. Secretary Mike Pompeo announced Wednesday that the United States is terminating the 1955 Treaty of Amity, its economic agreement with Iran."

The U.S. dollar index rose on strong economic data that sent treasuries markedly lower and the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P higher.

Among the big names making news in the market today were Aston Martin, eBay, Honda and GM, VistaGen, Tempur Sealy, and Upwork.
