The Metals:
Gold fell $3.70 to $1320.80 in Asia, but it then rallied back higher for most of trade in New York and ended near its early afternoon high of $1332.00 with a gain of 0.53%. Silver climbed to as high as $16.679 and ended with a gain of 0.79%.
Euro gold rose to about EUR1080, platinum gained $6.50 to $993.50, and copper climbed 3 cents to about $3.23.
Gold and silver equities drifted lower in afternoon trade and ended with modest losses.

Tomorrow brings several speeches from various fed officials.
The Markets:
Oil erased early losses and ended almost 2% higher after the Energy Information Administration reported that crude inventories fell 1.62 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 261,000 barrels, and distillates fell 2.42 million barrels.
The U.S. dollar index fell and treasuries rose as the yen climbed higher ahead of tonight's Japanese inflation numbers.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly higher on economic optimism.
Among the big names making news in the market today were De Beers, Ford, GE, Barclays, HP, AMD, and Chesapeake Energy.
