Gold Seeker Closing Report: Gold and Silver Gain Over 1% While Stocks Drop Almost 3%

The Metals:

Gold gained nearly $10 in Asia before it halved its gains in London, but it then rose to new 6-month highs in New York and ended with a gain of 1.08%. Silver climbed to as high as $14.776 and ended with a gain of 1.03%.

Euro gold rose above EUR1111, platinum remained at $786, and copper fell to about $2.67.

Gold and silver equities rose roughly 3% in the first hour of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

The Markets:

Oil fell almost 7% and the U.S. dollar index dropped notably as treasuries rose while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P lost nearly 3% on concerns about liquidity, the fed, politics, the government shutdown, and slowing economic growth.

Among the big names making news in the market today were Tesla, BMW, and Euronext.
