The Metals:
Gold edged down to $1315.70 in Asia, but it then chopped up to as high as $1323.90 in New York and ended with a gain of 0.33%. Silver slid down to $16.884 before it jumped back to $17.03, but it then drifted back lower into the close and ended unchanged on the day.
Euro gold fell to about EUR1099, platinum gained $13 to $982, and copper remained at about $3.22.
Gold and silver equities rose roughly 1% in the first 45 minutes of trade and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

The Markets:
Oil continued higher on signs of tight supplies and steady demand.
The U.S. dollar index fell as the euro jumped higher after the ECB signaled a reduction in their stimulus program soon.
Treasuries turned higher after today's $12 billion 30-year bond auction was bought by a record high 71.49% share by indirect bidders.
The Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P followed the oil market higher.
Among the big names making news in the market today were Ikea, Intel, Delta, Ford, Wal-Mart, and IBM.
