Gold Seeker Weekly Wrap-Up: Gold and Silver Gain Over 1% and 2% on the Week

The Metals:

Gold gained $9 to $1357.00 in Asia before it drifted back to $1348.90 in London, but it then bounced back higher in New York and ended with a gain of 0.12%. Silver rose to as high as $17.535 and ended with a gain of 0.64%.

Euro gold remained at about EUR1087, platinum lost $3 to $1010, and copper dropped 2 cents to about $3.20.

Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly higher and ended with modest gains.

Next week's economic highlights include Personal Income and Outlays on Monday, S&P Corelogic Case-Shiller HPI and Consumer Confidence on Tuesday, ADP Employment, the Employment Cost Index, Chicago PMI, Pending Home Sales, and a FOMC Meeting Announcement on Wednesday, Initial Jobless Claims, Productivity and Costs, PMI Manufacturing, ISM Manufacturing, and Construction Spending on Thursday, and January's jobs data, Consumer Sentiment, and Factory Orders on Friday.

The Markets:

Oil rose 1% as the U.S. dollar index resumed its decline on mixed economic data.

Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P climbed roughly 1% higher on more strong earnings reports.

Among the big names making news in the market Friday were Caterpillar, Honeywell, Remington, Intel, and Wynn Resorts.
