New York spot gold rose $4.30 to $1,330.70 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 3.65 points to 880.44 while the TSX Gold Index climbed 1.02 points to 197.64. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) led the march higher today, adding 33 cents to $13.99 on 1.16 million shares. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) led the retreat, dropping 18 cents to $5.56 on 3.89 million shares. Tahoe denies reports that flooding has caused its leach pond to overflow.

Shawn Ryan and David D'Onofrio's White Gold Corp. (WGO) slumped 12 cents to 97 cents on 251,000 shares. The company has new assays of up to 3.95 grams of gold per tonne over 7.62 metres from its White Gold project in Yukon. The assays are from the final 13 holes drilled last year on the project. The best hit came from one of six holes testing the Arc zone.Two holes tested the Golden Saddle zone, 400 metres north of Arc, and one produced 1.33 grams per tonne across 13.7 metres. The company also hit gold at the Ulli's target, with a 3.5-metre interval returning 2.58 grams per tonne.
