New York spot gold fell $9.30 to $1,324.90 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 11.63 points to 831.94 while the TSX Gold Index fell 3.89 points to 181.95. Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) led Canadian gold miners lower today, dropping eight cents to $1.80 on 1.03 million shares. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) fell 30 cents to $6.46 on 2.07 million shares.
Joseph Campbell and Stuart Rogers's Terrax Minerals Inc. (TXR), up five cents to 50 cents on 77,000 shares, has nearly doubled the size of its Yellowknife City gold project in the Northwest Territories, adding 33,750 hectares to the property. The new claims were staked immediately north of its main blocks of ground, which start just north of Yellowknife. Mr. Campbell, chairman and chief executive officer, says that Terrax has a land position that he believes is "unmatched in gold potential" by those held by any other junior mining company in Canada. Terrax is holding 70 kilometres of gold-bearing strike length along the trend that hosts the old Con and Giant mines, which produced over 4 million ounces of gold at an average of 16 grams per tonne.
