New York spot gold fell $10.90 to $1,304.00 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 8.17 points to 775.46 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.30 points to 189.46. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC), a $15 stock last week and a $9 one this week, finally shrugged off its discouraging guidance adjustments, gaining 88 cents to $10.16 on 5.51 million shares today.

Ewan Downie's Premier Gold Mines Ltd. (PG), up six cents to $2.78 on 513,000 shares, has received assays of up to 21.68 grams of gold per tonne across 45.7 metres from drilling at the El Nino Near-Pit zone at its South Arturo mine in Nevada's Carlin trend. The drilling produced plenty of other high-grade hits across the Near-Pit and Upper zones at El Nino, as well as the Phase 3 Pit zone. Mr. Downie, president and chief executive officer, says that the results continue to be positive, with some of the best grades that the company has ever achieved. He adds that the project, a joint venture with Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX: $17.29), will continue to provide a solid operational future. (Premier holds a 40-per-cent interest in South Arturo, which it bought on 2015 from Goldcorp Inc. (G: $17.15) for $20-million (U.S.) in cash and a 5-per-cent interest in a Red Lake gold prospect. Goldcorp also bought $12.5-million of Premier's stock.)
